Afternoons are generally more crowded than mornings. It is advisable to go as soon as the BMV opens. Mid-week tends to have shorter waits than Mondays and Fridays. The BMV often goes on lunch break around noon, leaving fewer employees. Try to avoid going during this time. Make sure you leave enough time to complete your transaction, especially if you are getting a permit or taking a road test. Also, the middle of the month tends to be better in contrast to the first and last days of the month.
All BMV branches are open for walk-in service and continue to support scheduled appointments. However, most procedures can be carried out online.
You can find your closest BMV location  here.
